Group Tuition - How does it work?
What is the process of applying for a slot in a Group Tuition?
- Select the most suitable class from the list of group tuition. Similar to our private 1-1 tuitions, all of our registered group tuition classes are taught by current or ex-school teachers. You can find the list of group tuitions here.
- Upon submission of your request, Schtutors will check with the tutor if there are vacancies in the class.
- If need be, a tele-conference call can be arranged between the parent and tutor to find out more about the details of the group tuition.
- Once the class is confirmed, you will receive an invoice from Schtutors with payment information via email. You will be required to pay Schtutors 50% of the first four week of lessons prior to the start of the class.
- Upon receiving the payment, the details (e.g. tuition location) will be sent to you via email.
Do I have to pay when my child has to skip a class?
Most of the group tuition do not charge when your child miss a class, and a make-up class can be re-scheduled later.
When do I pay the tutor?
Unlike 1-1 private tuition, you are required to pay the tutor on the 1st lesson, and subsequently every 1st lesson of the next 4 weeks.
What if the group tuition is not suitable for my child, and I would like to terminate the group tuition within the first 4 weeks?
You can inform us via email, and we would refund you the apportioned amount. E.g. if the fees is $300 ($150 for Schtutors, $150 for tutor) and you wish to terminate the class after 2 lessons, Schtutors and the tutor will return you $75 each.
Do I have to pay Schtutors if I decide not to go ahead with the group tuition before the commencement of the first lesson?
To be fair to you, as your child did not attend any classes, Schtutors would not be requesting for any payment. If you have already made paid payment to us, we would refund you the full amount.
How long will the entire engagement process take?
Depending on the tutor's response time, it will take from 2-5 working days.
What is a 'Mini' group tuition?
A 'Mini' group tuition is a group tuition with the maximum number of students set at 2. It is a good alternative between 1-1 private tuition and the group tuition class. The small group size allows the tutor to focus more attention on the student, and the tutor could customize teaching materials and pedagogical approaches to suit each student's needs.
